Welcome Jenna Louise Coleman. Another talker! Great. I missed Tennant’s long expositions in the current series. We need more words!

At this stage we don’t know the name of the companion though that will probably be revealed just before filming commences.

Jenna has appeared in Emmerdale, Captain America, the Titantic TV series and a number of other shows.

Her Doctor Who companion character is said to be talkative and platonic. She’ll first appear in the Christmas Special – Episode 6 (Amy and Rory leave in New York in the final episode of the series for 2012 – episode 5 which involves the weeping angels) This will have fans scratching their heads as to numbering. Is the Christmas special Jenna appears in with Daleks 7.6 or 7.X or 3.6 or 4.1 or no code?

There is a possibility that she’ll be a companion from the 60s. This would dovetail nicely with the episodes of the new series rumoured to be set in various years from the past 50!

Filming is due to start in May 2012

Well, I’m flattered. Really, I am. In 2008 I wrote a short children’s story called Alien Bob. You can find it on Amazon Kindle here:

Alien Bob

So to see a grown building in the Doctor Who story The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe was pretty cool. Actually Alien Bob’s grown buildings pop up irregularly in the entire Alien Characters series in Series 1 and will feature in stories in Series 2 so perhaps this will get kids thinking about the possibility of growing a building. One day we may get some scientists actually doing it.

Of course, grown buildings have been talked about for decades so having them appear in a couple of science fiction series within a few years of each other is probably a coincidence – still, it would be nice if Steven Moffat had read Alien Bob. Maybe it will give me a foot in the door sometime in the future for getting an actual script in Doctor Who. (I know most scripts have already been commissioned for 2012-2013 and there’ll probably be a break in 2014. Then 2015 is likely to be time for a new doctor to be introduced which means only expert writers will be brought back for that season, so I’m aiming for 2016!)

Here’s a picture from Alien Bob of a Town Hall being grown.

Cheers!

Have you heard of Bashar? He is a gray/human hybrid gestalt entity sending his thoughts, along with his shipmates and sentient ship thoughts, via channelling from 2700 years in an alternate future through Darryl Ankar, a medium in the USA. Darryl has been channeling Bashar’s kind (a sassani from Essassani) for almost 30 years. Bashar is a first contact specialist and frequently meets races from around the universe.

I have been listening and watching the channelings for almost a year now, catching up on decades of recordings. I’m convinced he’s legitimate. I bring this into a Doctor Who forum purely because a particular alien species that Bashar has talked about before is relevant. The species is called The Thuke (closest approximate English translation). To communicate with any species on different vibrational levels it is necessary to co-create a reality whereby your vibrational level is raised slightly and theirs is lowered slightly so that communication can take place. The only problem with The Thuke is that after you leave the co-created reality, you forget everything that happened within that reality. You can’t remember what they look like, what you talked about or whether you even had a meeting with them, until someone tells you otherwise.

Interesting that Bashar has been talking about The Thuke for about 20 years and how his and other alien races protecting the Earth have learnt from them on how to help people forget, and suddenly we get a race called The Silence in Doctor Who which have the ability to make people forget.

I wonder if Steven Moffat has been following Bashar? In which case there are so many wonderful alien races that have never been created within the Doctor Who universe that Steven can manifest. I’m particularly interested to see the multidimensional interlaced metallic ringed aliens who access the akashic records from the corona of black holes. Not sure how they’d feature in a story (maybe as librarians) but it would be cool to see them on screen.

Check Bashar out. Even if you don’t believe anything about where he comes from, it’s not the messenger but the message that’s important.

Ah, another reinvented story for the masses. I hope it features some fabulous performances as, once again, it’s for kids. I know Doctor Who is supposed to be a kids show but, seriously, how many kids actually featured in most Doctor Who episodes? Steven, I love your work but kids in Doctor Who? Again? Are you my mummy? The down side about kids in Doctor Who is: you know, without a shadow of a doubt, that nothing bad is going to happen to the kid. They’ve got a free pass through whatever dangers await them in the storyline. Which means nothing dangerous can happen to them. Which means the storyline will be a psychological thriller rather than featuring any physical danger or on the edge of your seat excitement. It’s no fun when you can predict the ending.

Anyway, that’s my comment. Bah Humbug. Please put all the kids in The Jenny Adventures and I’d happily watch it knowing it’s for kids and should feature kids. Or maybe the series Rose Tyler: Earth Defender which could be written for kids.

Here’s the trailer for the Doctor Who Christmas Special: The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe. Thanks to TheDoctorWhoMedia for the up.

Today’s alien-packed series finale is also the last-ever episode of the award-winning The Sarah Jane Adventures – and one not to be missed.

This time, the truth behind Joseph Serf’s company is out – alien Light Sculptors, slaves kept beneath his office building.

And now Sarah Jane Adventures is over. Goodbye Sarah Jane. For the die hard fans of Elisabeth Sladen and this series I expect that the DVD releases will contain additional material, interviews, outtakes and more. I look forward to seeing those. Goodbye Elisabeth Sladen. You’ll always be missed.
